Looks like OpenAI was hacked:
You need to do three things:
Use randomly-generated emails for accounts
Change your password
Add multi-factor authentication (MFA)
Randomly Generated Emails
I highly suggest using EITHER:
“Login with _” like “Login with Google” because they don’t show your Google password, you can set up security features on Google, and you can revoke access to apps and websites from your Google security settings
OR a random email generator like iCloud Hide my Email and a password manager like Apple Passwords. If you’re on Android (ew lmao) use something like Proton Hide my Email and a password manager like ProtonPass
I prefer email generators because:
It prevents your main email from being compromised because the hacker won’t know, and you can discard the generated email address
You can trace where emails are being sent from. For example, if you get banking alerts from your foxSubstack@icloud.com email, then you know something is wrong
Hackers won’t be able to re-use your password somewhere else, and you’ll avoid giving out sensitive information in your password. like mySonJohn123
Change Password
ChatGPT doesn’t let you change your password, so you have to click “Forgot Password” on the login page to get a password reset email
Add Multi-Factor Authentication
Once logged-in, click your profile icon on the upper-right corner, click Settings, then go to the Security tab near the bottom-left corner
Set up Multi-factor authentication here (also wouldn’t hurt to log out of all devices just in case):
Stay safe 🦊
Thx Fox. Phishing and hackers is really becoming an issue in general. Coinbase Wallet scam going around. Be safe out there
